Sun.Star Cebu

Thank you, Handuraw

PERFORMERS. At least four local bands, a comic duo and two serenaders were featured last Wednesday night at Handuraw Pizza on Gorordo Ave. in its swan performance—not because the restobar owners don't like them anymore but because the place that the restobar owners rented for several years had to be returned to its original owners. I was there to witness the final moments of Handuraw Pizza.

BANDS. The four bands did their best to delight the spectators. Purple Kush, Pandora, Rio and Missing Filemon were all amazing. Missing Filemon guitarist/ vocalist and fellow SunStar Cebu columnist Lorenzo "Insoy" Niñal and his accompanists wowed all of us with some of his original compositions.

TRANSFER. But local artists need not worry. After all, the famous restobar has three or four other outlets that the local musicians may have the chance to transfer to and continue entertaining the general public in. Thanks a lot to Becky Pestaño-Smith, her daughter Zarah and her son Eric and their staff for making their restobar a venue for homegrown entertainers to shine on stage.

SCHOOL. Allow me to congratulate the owners of Asian Learning Center (ALC) on the inauguration of its new five-storey extension building on Sangi Road, Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City. Citichurch Cebu Pastor Brian Kairos cut the ceremonial ribbon as ALC directress Louella Magdadaro, administrator Greg Magdadaro, assistant administrator Hazel Sanchez and her sister Hannah Go and their teachers and staff were so busy entertaining those that came to the occasion.

SHOW. Next Monday, local performers Jun Villarta, Amie Filomeno and the comic duo Bulabog Boys will stage a free variety show in Candijay, Bohol. (For reactions, text 0932-277-8771)
