BJ Mercantile Inc. is the local distributor of Scania, a Swedish manufacturer of trucks and buses. Scania provides driver training and coaching to ensure long-term business benefits, such as fuel efficiency, improved safety and enhanced sustainability by teaching the appropriate driving style for the vehicles. The trucks are equipped with Fleet Management Services, which monitors the performance of the vehicle and the driver.

Heavy equipment from the brand is in demand for construction, mining, hauling

Scania officially entered the Visayas market as BJ Mercantile Inc. turned over two models—the Scania G360 and R440—to RGS Logistics Inc. last June 8.

Headquartered in Sweden, Scania is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of trucks and buses for heavy transport applications. The brand made its fo-ray in the Philippines in 2015 and received an overwhelming response from the market.

Distributed in the Philippines by BJ Mercantile Inc., Scania hopes to further expand in other parts of the country, specifically in the Visayas and Mindanao regions.

“We are very excited to set foot in the Visayas as we foresee a huge demand for our trucks—which are mainly used for construction, mining and as petroleum haulers—to support the fast-paced growth and development in the region. We look forward to working together with other local fleet operators like RGS Logistics Inc. to help them improve their operations,” said Leilani Lim-Tan, vice president of BJ Mercantile.

The Scania G and R series are part of the Scania Streamline truck range, which are equipped with second-generation Euro 6 engines—more fuel-efficient than its predecessor.

Scania’s showroom is on 1132 Edsa Balintawak, Quezon City, Metro Manila.
