DID YOU HEAR WHAT WE HEARD?

LESS THAN NEWS, MORE THAN RUMOR

330 LAWYERS BEFORE SC; P386M ON DUTERTE TRIPS

Did you know:

-- 330 (three hundred thirty) lawyers were among the petitioners in the complaints related to martial law now pending before the Supreme Court? Not all of them talked at the oral arguments: what noise fest they would’ve made if every attorney did.

-- P110,000 per sq. m. is the price of the lots Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña would sell from the South Road Properties? Of course, you’ve always known that Tomas didn’t want any of the lots to be sold by then mayor Mike Rama. That’s why he had opposed Mike’s deals and wouldn’t touch proceeds from the sale.

DUTERTE'S TRAVELS

President Duterte spent P386.2 million for his foreign trips (not counting yet the expenses for his last four trips) in the first year of his term. Compared (as reported in www. rappler story) in the first year of each president, Duterte had 21, while PNoy had eight.

LOCAL LAWYERS SILENT

What’s the view of Cebu’s lawyers on the martial law issue? The local IBPs and other lawyers’ groups have been quiet. How much more drafting a petition and joining the 330 lawyers in Manila who petitioned the SC?

Apparently news reporters and broadcasters haven’t sought them out. No forums were organized to get the opinions of those affected by martial law and related issues. Or maybe they just don’t want to make their views public.

PRIEST'S LAMENT

A priest complained that his alleged wealth is being pried into by a sector in media when there are other priests who are “similarly enriched”: “Nganong ako lang?”
