ANS, SCSIT face off in CYBL Girls’ finals

Abellana National School (ANS) and Salazar Colleges of Science and Institute of Technology (SCSIT) will clash in the finals of the Girls Under-18 division of the Cebu Youth Basketball League (CYBL) Summer League 2017 following semi-final victories last weekend at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Mango Avenue Campus Gym.

ANS had a comfortabl­e 4229 win over Compre Basketball.

ANS took a comfortabl­e lead early on. Compre, however, rallied to trim it down to 23-27 after ANS relaxed and put in its bench players in the third.

ANS then pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring Compre, 15-6.

Darliene Ragasajo led ANS with 13 points, while Latch Mae Hipolito added nine. Mary Grace Cogtas had nine points, while Gabrielle Bautista chipped in eight for Compre.

SCSIT, in the meantime, beat Grassroots Basketball, 40-35.

It was a close game from start to finish. With the game tied at 32-32, SCSIT outscored Grassroots Basketball, 8-3, for the close victory.

Mary Jean Pascal led SCSIT with 15 points, while Kathleen Agustin chipped in 10. Princess Jeira Delig had 20 points in a losing effort by Grassroots Basketball, while Agnes Poster added 10.

One on One B snagged the Under-15 crown of Division 2 following a 52-48 victory over University of Southern Philippine­s Foundation (USPF).

One on One B survived a second half onslaught by USPF's Aji Dimatag, holding on to the lead up until the final buzzer.

Richard Limboy was One on One B's leading scorer with 12 points, while Dimatag exploded for 25 points, all in the second half, in a losing effort by USPF.
