“W hen you’re in sales, you serve as a bridge— connecting the consumers to the products.” Before starting college, Mandani Bay’s Sales Head Audrey Villa already had an inkling that he wanted to work in sales. But it wasn’t about the figures, it was the research— identifying the needs of the market and creating products that meet these needs—that drew him to sales the most. Villa was an achiever in school—garnering honors in grade school, finishing valedictorian in high school, and graduating magna cum laude in college with a degree in Business Management at the University of the Philippines-Cebu.

“As a sales head, I wear different hats. It’s not just specific to one thing or limited to selling and talking to my team. Sometimes, I’m a lawyer, sometimes a tax specialist,” he quipped.

As one of the first employees for the massive project by HT Land, Inc.— seventh, if he recalls correctly— Villa built his team from scratch, recruiting members and creating the sales flow himself. Now on his third year with the project, he leads 150 sellers and 300 brokers—a total of 450 people under his wing.

“In sales, one has to sell consistently. For me, the most challenging part of my job is to continuously and consistently motivate the team,” he said.

Contrary to what most people think, sales is more complicated than it appears to be. “Sales isn’t merely hard selling, it’s also about strategizing. Success lies in the planning. It’s 50 percent proper planning and 50 percent flawless execution,” he explained.

Last year, Mandani Bay achieved a record-breaking feat by selling out two towers in less than a year. The perks are a given, but to Villa, “the most rewarding part of my job is seeing members of my team grow in their career, succeed at what they do and become financially stable. That’s priceless for me as a sales head.”

Audrey Villa may wear different hats on a day-to-day basis but with a good head on his shoulders, he rocks every hat with great passion and gusto.
