CPDRC personnel also recover list of money remittance transactions from one of the inmates

Various contraband were confiscated by jail and police personnel during a joint greyhound operation at the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) yesterday morning.

Jail and police officials led by CPDRC acting warden Roberto “Bobby” Legaspi conducted greyhound operations in 20 jail cells at 8 a.m. yesterday. They were able to recover contraband such as improvised weapons, money, cellular phones and other gadgets. They also seized appliances.

Also, a list of money remittance transactions was recovered from Antonio Aguisanda, a former policeman who was jailed for illegal drug and weapons possession three years ago.

Supt. Mario Baquiran, head of the Provincial Public Safety Company, said the list confiscated from Aguisanda contained money remittance transactions worth P40,000 to P70,000 covering the period starting May.

Also recovered were tablets that resembled party drugs.

But police and jail personnel who conducted the greyhound operation said they want to put the tablets for testing to determine if they are illegal or not.

Also inspected during the greyhound yesterday was the jail cell of suspected drug lord Alvaro “Barok” Alvaro. Various drug paraphernalia were found inside his cell.

Legaspi told reporters that they plan to make regular greyhound operations to contraband from getting in.

Legaspi said the contraband found during yesterday’s greyhound was “minor” but that authorities can’t be complacent.

Last week, five inmates were hurt when another inmate stabbed them inside the jail last Saturday.
