Results of last Friday’s tests will be released once these are completed. Cosap has been conducting orientation for the reactivation of the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council in the city’s 80 barangays. Next month, Cosap will visit public elementary schools where it will talk to pupils about the ill effects of illegal drugs. Cosap will kick off the information dissem- ination campaign in Carreta and Tejero on July 3.
The Cebu City Office for Substance Abuse Prevention (Cosap) wants public school teachers in the city to undergo a surprise drug test.
Last Friday, Cosap conducted a surprise drug test to 139 officials of the Department of Education (DepEd) that includes education program supervisors, division coordinators and principals.
Results of the test were not released yet since the urine samples were still being examined in a laboratory, said Cosap executive director Garry Lao.
“We conducted a surprise drug test to the school officials and other workers because when we had our orientation for the reactivation of the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) in one of the barangays, an official told us that we should include them (school officials). They suspect that there are those who are into illegal drugs,” Lao said.
Cosap has been conducting orientation for the reactivation of BADAC in the 80 villages together with the Department of Interior and Local Government and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
Next month, Cosap will conduct information education campaign on the ill-effects of illegal drugs in all public elementary schools in the city.
Cosap will kick off the campaign in Carreta Elementary School and Tejero Elementary School on July 3, Lao said. /
