Marikina beats Global

Global Cebu FC suffered its second loss in the Philippine Football League (PFL), 2-1, against JPV Marikina FC last Sunday night at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila.

Japanese Takashi Odawara led JPV Marikina FC’s offense, scoring both goals.

Odawara headed in the ball in the 25th minute to give JPV Marikina FC the early lead. He scored his second goal right after halftime in the 55th minute.

Sekou Sylla finally scored for Global Cebu FC in the 69th minute with a header coming off a corner kick.

Global Cebu FC, which is coming off a penalty shootout win over Geylang United FC in Singapore, couldn’t seem to find the equalizer with the remaining time in regulation.

With the win, JPV Marikina FC takes the PFL leadership with 18 points. /
