Enrison Holdings Inc. is investing P100 million in its ongoing renovation of its Be Resort Mactan property, which opened about eight years ago. Enrison Holdings President Grand Benedicto announced that the renovation of its guest rooms, which began in late 2016, is about 70 percent done. The company is banking on the opening of Mactan airport’s second terminal sometime next year and warmer relations with China to help bring more tourists to the island. After upgrading Be Resort Mactan, the company intends to add 200 rooms and bigger function rooms to its resort in Bohol, which currently has 208 rooms and 19 villas.

Homegrown firm Enrison Holdings Inc. allots P100 million to upgrade the eight yearold resort, prepares for continued influx of foreign tourists to Mactan, Cebu.

Enrison Holdings Inc., the company behind the 160-room Be Resort Mactan, is spending close to P100 million to facilitate the resort’s major renovation program which started late last year.

Enrison Holdings president Grand Benedicto described the resort’s total facelift as its major investment for the year citing the resort’s much needed improvement after opening eight years ago.

“We believe it’s time to renovate,” said Benedicto in an interview yesterday.

The renovation program includes remodeling of its guest rooms, beautifying its lobby, expanding its restaurant, adding drop off and pick-up points and function rooms, among other facility improvements.

“Hopefully by end of the year, we will be able to unveil the brand new Be Resort Mactan,” he said.

No-frills resort

Benedicto added they are already 70 percent done in renovating the guest rooms as the resort plays host to the Ironman competition this August.

Renovation of other amenities will resume right after the Ironman.

Be Resort Mactan started as a no-frills resort hotel, but after the company’s expansion in Bohol through Be Grand Bohol, the company saw the need to upgrade its Mactan property.

“We need to make Mactan get closer to the market of (Be Grand) Bohol,” said Benedicto. “We want Be Resort Mactan to be a notch higher than what it used to be.”

But while they embark on major improvements, the official said they will not lose the Be Resort Mactan’s known image as a designer hotel.

Stable market

Amid tough competition and peace and order issues in the country, Benedicto remains optimistic of Cebu’s growth in tourism.

“Mactan is a stable market, where everybody owns a piece of the (tourism) pie,” he said.

Be Resort Mactan’s occupancy is largely driven by foreign guests.

Benedicto expects continued arrival of foreign tourists with the opening of the new Terminal 2 of the Mactan Cebu International Airport next year and with the country’s warmer relations with China.

Bohol expansion

After Mactan, the company will also expand its Be Grand Bohol next year.

Benedicto disclosed they will add 200 more rooms and build bigger function rooms on their resort property in Bohol.

At present, Be Grand Bohol houses 208 rooms and 19 villas.

The expansion in Bohol, according to Benedicto, is part of the company’s strategy in preparation for the expected influx of both local and foreign guests as soon as the Panglao Island International Airport operates.
