P50K in prizes for St. Ignatius Run
More than P50,000 in cash prizes will be at stake for the winners in the St. Ignatius Run 2017 slated on July 23 at the SM City Cebu parking lot.
This year, the run is hosted by the Sacred Heart School- Ateneo de Cebu Alumni (SHS-AAA) Batch of 1992 led by its batch president Erickson Ong.
The annual event is open to all runners and fitness buffs. It will feature the men's and women's 21-kilometer, 12K, 6K, 3K and 1K categories.
“What's new for this year is the route, the start and finish venue, the medals and the total cash prizes, which is above P50,000,” said run chairman Ken Espedido during the press conference at the Casino Español de Cebu yesterday.
Ong said that the proceeds of the event will go to two beneficiaries, namely: the SHS-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Blue Plate Project and the Batch 92's Scholarship Program: Building Skills, Improving Lives.
He stressed that the former is the school's daily feeding program for public school students in Canduman, Mandaue. The latter is a vocational scholarship for less fortunate but deserving students.
“Since we launched the scholarship program we have now 20 graduates in housekeeping course. If we raise enough funds we're looking to add more courses,” said Espedido.
Cash prizes will be given to the Top 5 runners in the 21K, and Top 3 runners in the 12K, 6K and 3K. The first 250 finishers in the 21K and also in the 12K will each receive a finisher's medal.
Registration fee for the 21K is at P750, the 12K is at P650, the 6K is P550 while 3K and 1K at P450 each.
Registration starts July 1 at Loalde Stores in SM Cebu, SM Seaside and Ayala Center Cebu, Runnr Store at Ayala Center Cebu, SHS-AdC Alumni Office and online registration at www. race.ph.
