Vispop now on its 5th year
VISPOP. I am glad that the Bisaya songwriting campaign tagged Vispop is now on its 5th year. I commend its organizers for sustaining it as a yearly event despite the many challenges that they had faced and continue to hurdle. Yes, it's not easy to organize all sorts of competitions because they entail huge financial requirements—and Vispop organizers are succeeding in this regard because their credibility is still intact.
FINALISTS. For this year's staging of the competition, six finalists are getting ready for the big night on July 29 at SM Seaside City Sky Hall. They are the Dexter Latosa-Bingbing Veloso tandem, Jerika Teodorico, Chai Fonacier, the Jane Abaday-Winset Jacot tandem, Jeremy Sarmiento and RJ Ensalada. "Year after year, our composers are getting better and are giving us better music," Vispop music director/composer Jude Gitamondoc said.
RADIO. Singing businesswoman Hildi Montesclaros a.k.a. Ate Ging expands her radio program Gabayan
sa Kaayohan over dyKC Kusog Cebu. At present, she also produces a nightly program of the same title over dyHP. Ate Ging will formally launch her dyKC program on July 10. It will be aired daily, except Sundays, from 2 to 3 p.m.
FORMAT. Ate Ging assured that the listening public will definitely have an enjoyable program format that features a 20-minute soap opera (drama) portion, a 10-minute summary of the drama (to be hosted by Angielon Detrago) and her own 30-minute portion of dedication and songs.
SONGS. Ate Ging has a treasure trove of very nice selections, some of which are no longer played on the radio. (For comments, text 0932-277-8771).
