Aftershock, which came 2 days after a magnitude 6.9 quake hit Leyte Province, was also felt in parts of Cebu, Bohol and Negros Provinces. Talisay City Mayor Eduardo Gullas suspended work at City Hall.

Cebu City Hall officials and employees stepped outside the building when the tremors struck at 9:41 a.m. After that, they went back to work and planned how to help quake survivors in Ormoc City.

Intensity 6 quake was felt in Ormoc, and 5 in Kananga, Leyte; Cebu, Cadiz, Dumaguete and Iloilo were also hit

A magnitude 5.8 aftershock rocked Leyte Province and other areas in the Visayas yesterday morning.

The strong aftershock came two days after a magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck the same province.

The aftershock struck Ormoc City at 9:41 a.m. yesterday with a depth of three kilometers. It was tectonic in origin.

Intensity 6 tremors were felt in Ormoc City, while Intensity 5 tremors were felt in Kananga, Leyte.

Intensity 4 tremors were felt in Mayorga and Tacloban City in Leyte and Mandaue City in Cebu.

Intensity 3 tremors were also felt in the cities of Cebu and Talisay and in the towns of Loay and Jagna in Bohol.

Intensity 2 tremors were felt in Tabogon and Lapu-Lapu City in Cebu, Cadiz City in Negros Occidental, and Iloilo City.

Guihulngan town in Negros Oriental also felt Intensity 1 tremors.

In Talisay City, Mayor Eduardo Gullas had to suspend work at City Hall as a way to ensure the safety of employees.

The City Engineerin­g Office and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), along with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), inspected the city hall building for any damage.

Engr. Gamaliel Vicente, Acting City Engineer, said that as of yesterday, the aftershock­s did not do any damage to the city hall. /
