As he turns 38 years old today, Mandaue City Mayor Gabriel Luis Quisumbing's only request is for everyone to send help to the affected residents of the siege in Marawi City in Mindanao and the earthquake in Ormoc City in Leyte.

The City Government, for its part, will give P100,000 cash assistance each to both cities.

The mayor said, in a Facebook post, that many have been asking him where to send some gifts or lechon (roasted pig), but his request to his friends was just to send relief goods and other things needed for the people in Marawi and Ormoc.

“For all those planning to give me a gift, may I respectfully request that you instead give canned goods/water or tents/tarpaulin instead? Whatever I get, I will add my own small contribution, split it evenly and send it next week to Marawi and Ormoc City,” Quisumbing said, who is on his first term as Mandaue mayor.

All donations can be sent to the Office of the Mayor at the Mandaue City Hall.

“With your permission, I'll share your love with our soldiers in Marawi and quake victims in Ormoc. Right now, they need all love and affection we can muster,” said Quisumbing.

According to the City Public Information Office, a resolution for the donation of cash assistance for Marawi has already been approved in the previous City Council session.

The City Council is expected to pass another resolution for the release of financial assistance intended for Ormoc.
