Pagcor asked to decide on fund use

- RVC

The Cebu City Council wants the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) to determine if a resolution or ordinance is needed to charge to the account some P26.8 million for the hauling of garbage this month.

The Department of Public Services (DPS) is asking for the amount, through a resolution authored by Councilor Eugenio Gabuya Jr., pending the approval of the first supplemental budget (SB 1), which also covers P151 mil- lion for hauling expenses until the end of the year.

DPS has a P121 million-budget this year for garbage disposal, as well as, for the salaries of some of its job-order workers. But it only covered the hauling from January to April.

DPS has also used up its P12-million reserve for the hauling fee, covering part of April until the half of May.

Another P40 million that was intended for the department’s rental of heavy equipment was realigned for garbage disposal.

Private contractor Pasajero Motors Corp. (Pamocor) is handling the garbage disposal for the city. From the transfer station, where wastes are being temporarily stored, Pamocor will bring all the collected garbage to the private landfill in Consolacion town. In an interview, Councilor Jose Daluz III said it would be proper for Pagcor to decide on the matter./ Magpu-asa mo.
