On the warpath
The “former political has-been” is on the warpath. He threatened with cases those who crossed his path and those who criticized and opposed his vision. After threatening his predecessor, “has-been” mayor Michael Rama, with criminal cases for his questionable deals when he was the mayor, the “former political has-been” now threatened to file cases against Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella for intervening in the reorganization of the City Council.
Not only that. He is also contemplating on filing charges against Allan Dino, brother of his nemesis, Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Michael Dino, for the “substandard” city-owned condominium. Allan, who is a son-in-law of the late Vice mayor Renato Osmeña, constructed the four story city condominium several years ago intended for the urban poor sector. It has been converted into a dormitory for city government scholars.
Susmaryosep! That edifice has been standing there for several years. If that is substandard and defective, why did the Office of the Building Officials (OBO) issued it an occupancy permit? Besides, the “former political has-been” has been in and out of City Hall for the past decades. Why is it only now that he discovered the supposed anomaly?
Is that building really substandard? Or his threat is because he is at loggerheads with Michael Dino?
I don’t know personally Allan Dino but I can only sympathize with him because he has been caught in the political crossfire. See how vindictive this person is? He is persecuting an innocent person who just happened to be the brother of his enemy.
In his State of the City Address (Soca) last week, he exposed Rama’s supposed questionable deals, notably in the purchase of several units of substandard garbage trucks. He also accused Rama of pocketung the donations from various individuals and organizations for the construction of the new Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC). Rama denied the accusations.
But if this true, why would he sue Rama only now? It has been a year since he took over City Hall. Sigeg yawyaw og anomaliya unya walay gihimo.
Now, he said he will file a case against Labella for intervening in the planned reorganization of the city council, which is now dominated by his “bunch of blind supporters.” He said Labella made his own interpretation of what is “majority” and accused him of politicking. He said the vice mayor should be neutral and vote only if there is tie.
Labella and his allies in the Barug Team Rama had argued that the vice mayor is included in the count of council members based on a Supreme Court ruling. Well, I don’t dwell on that issue. Let the court interpret it.
But the truth is the “former political has-been” is hot on Labella because the vice mayor politely declined his invitation to talk with him. Sources said that the “former political has-been” has sent an emissary, a common friend, to have Labella invited for political discussions. But Labella, for several occasions, politely declined the invitation.
