WBO says, we got it right the first time

Iknew that useless exercise of the WBO reviewing the decision for the Manny Pacquiao vs Jeff Horn fight would result in a validation of the decision.

The WBO got five independent judges and three of the five must be in agreement to determine the winner of each round. They also had to watch the fight without sound, to eliminate bias.

“Upon the analysis, the findings stated that Pacquiao won the third, the eighth and ninth by 100 percent; the fifth round was won by 80 percent; and the 11th round by 60 percent. Horn won the first, sixth and 12th rounds by 100 percent; the second, fourth, and seventh by 80 percent; and then, the 10th round by 60 percent. From the results, it can be established that Pacquiao won five rounds while Horn won seven rounds,” WBO said in a statement.

That pretty much echo what Bob Arum said, the fight was too close to call and some rounds could have gone either way. Do you know why I expected the review to go that way? Because of what Arum said.

Do you remember when Pacquiao first lost to Tim Bradley via controversial decision? Arum lambasted the judges and of course, the succeeding review proved the grand old man right. I doubt any review would prove the grand old man wrong in this one.

So, what’s next for Manny? This pretty much tells everyone that a rematch is not only to be expected, it should be the next order of business. Recently, Manny posted a video of himself doling out money to explain why he continue to fight.

One could point out that that encourages a culture of medicancy to the good senator but at this point in his life, only Manny Pacquiao (oran accepted interpretation of the Bible) can change what Manny Pacquiao thinks. (Will people go hungry if he doesn’t fight?)

Nobody pictured this scenario pre-fight, but a loss for Manny would be a huge gain for Arum; the Pacman was on the last fight of his contract under Top Rank and a win would have opened opportunities for Pacman to explore other options for a final fight or two.

He lost, so a rematch is mandated under Top Rank and in Brisbane, which is still willing to shell out millions for a second fight.

Do it in the Philippines? In your dreams, Manny. If the country didn’t bite his request for P3 billion for a fifth fight with Juan Manuel Marquez, I don’t think it will for a rematch with Horn.

Father time will eventually beat all boxers, Manny hasn’t seen the signs yet, so I hope he gets whatever he wants in the rematch.
