100 LGU REPS GATHER FOR QUALITY SUMMIT
The main objective of the 2-day gathering was to promote public sector performance in terms of government frontline transactions. It was held at the City Sports Club, with most of the participants coming from Mindanao
Over 100 delegates from various local government units (LGUs) in the country, majority of them were from Mindanao, participated in the two-day LGU quality summit organized by the AGF Consulting Group-PH.
The activity with the theme, “Toward World-Class Service through Quality Management System,” was held at the City Sports Club, Ayala Business Park last June 29 and 30.
The main objective of the event was to promote public sector performance in terms of government frontline transactions, as encouraged by Executive Order 605, or implementing a government-wide quality management system.
Featured speakers were Acting Director Clotilde Lacsamana-Drapete of the Department of Budget and Management–Systems and Productivity Improvement Bureau, Janette Asis of the Provincial Government of Pangasinan, and Atty. Regal Oliva of the Mandaue City Government. Pangasinan and Mandaue were among the first ISO–certified LGUs in the country.
Dr. Lorel S. Dee, a representative from the Government Procurement and Policy Board; Proilane D. Daclan, a representative of the Civil Service Commission; and Renato Navarrete, who is also known as the “Father of ISO in the Philippines” from the Certification Philippines International also graced the activity.
Seven mayor and five vice mayors from Madridejos and Argao Cebu; Makilala, North Cotabato; Tantangan and Surallah, South Cotabato; Midsayap, Cotabato; Bagumbayan, Sultan Kudarat and Godod, Zamboanga Del Norte were also present.
The program succeeded in its objective to promote and establish quality management systems to the LGUs present, many of them found the importance of implementing this system to improve government transaction processes.
