Replacement of chiefs follows process: Doria

-

Cebu City Police Office Director Joel Doria refused to comment on the pronouncement of Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña that he wants his police chiefs back.

Doria expressed his gratitude that Osmeña praised him for his continuous campaign against illegal drugs and criminality in Cebu City.

Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 Director Noli Taliño said there’s a process to be followed if the mayor wants the chiefs replaced.

“It is up to the national headquarters, to the chief PNP, but Doria is already a full fledged city director,” Taliño said.

Taliño also noted that Doria’s performance is excellent especially on the One Time Big Time or Oplan Pokemon program he introduced.

Recently, the CCPO caught 121 persons from different drug busts and other operations.

Meanwhile, Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III admitted that Cebu was a drug hotspot, following the pronouncement of President Rodrigo Duterte. He said that officials are doing their best to curb illegal drugs.

Davide cited known drug lords like Jeffrey “Jaguar” Diaz and Rowen “Yawa” Secretaria.

“Why would we deny that? That’s the truth. But we’re also doing our share to help the authorities in the campaign against illegal drugs,” Davide said.

Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) officer-in-charge Catalino Cuy said that the investigation of government officials is a continuing process.

Cuy said that the issue on politicians involved in illegal drugs was tackled in the National Peace and Order Council meeting yesterday.

Recently, three councilors and a barangay captain were arrested by the Provincial Intelligence Branch of the Cebu Provincial Police Office for their alleged involvement in drugs and other illegal activities.
