A FORMER CHILD STAR IN TROUBLE

-

Authorities said singer Aaron Carter and his girlfriend have been arrested on DUI (driving under the influence) and drug charges in Georgia.

Capt. Floyd Canup said the 29-year-old Carter and Madison Parker were arrested Saturday. Carter was released on bail Sunday.

Canup said Parker is eligible for bail but has not been released and still remains in jail for "unknown reasons."

Aaron is accused of drunken driving and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and paraphernalia. Parker was arrested for obstruction, possession of less than an ounce of pot and paraphernalia.

Aaron's vehicle was stopped on a highway in Cornelia, northeast of Atlanta.

Aaron was scheduled to perform in Kansas City, Missouri, on Saturday night. A tweet from his account hours before the show said he wouldn't make it because of "transportation issues."

Aaron is the younger brother of Nick Carter of Backstreet Boys.

Shortly after the arrest became public, Nick took to Twitter to share a message for Aaron: "To my brother: I love u no matter what & if u feel the need to reach for help, I am here and willing to help you get better. Family isn't always easy, but we're all here for you." But Aaron was not touched. "If my own blood truly cared about my well-being, why wouldn't he call me directly and have a conversation instead of making this about him through a very public forum? That's not cool at all, to use me for his PR and kick me while I am down. I love my family despite it through thick and thin," Aaron tweeted.

In reply, Nick retweeted a message from their sister Lauren Kitt Carter: Hey, @aaroncarter, have (Madison) text me your new number since you changed it again!”

Aaron also thanked his fans for the support. He also tweeted his statement about the incident.

The singer revealed that he was arrested for erratic driving because his car had on a new tire but it went out of alignment. He then went to the nearest auto center to have the problem fixed.

“After being at the store and requesting help to get his alignment fixed, he was arrested inside by several police officers with aggression. The police also revoked his rights to have an attorney," the statement read.

"Aaron holds a medical license for medical marijuana for his longstanding anxiety. He feels his 'celebrity' was targeted and an attorney will be retained in this matter. The video from Auto Zone will prove that Aaron was not in a moving vehicle while arrested and charged with a DUI."

Meanwhile, in Cebu, “Tawag ng Tanghalan” grand champion Noven Belleza, 22, was arrested for alleged rape.

Mabolo Police Station Chief Jacinto Mandal Jr. confirmed the arrest but refused to expound since it is considered a “private crime.” (Story on page 1)

Belleza is reportedly under hospital arrest because he wasn't feeling well following the arrest.

Belleza was the first champion of “Tawag ng Tanghalan,” a singing contest in It's Showtime.
