Gullas vows to implement more infra projects for Talisay
The completion of the first phase of the new Tabunok Public Market and other infrastructure projects highlighted the State of the City Address (Soca) of Talisay City Mayor Eduardo Gullas yesterday.
In his 19-minute Soca, Gullas said that once the second phase of the new Tabunok Public Market will be finished this October, his constituents can finally enjoy a new public market that is truly a far cry from its previous structure.
The first phase of the new Tabunok Public Market is worth P52 million.
At present, the City is proceeding with the second phase of construction.
Aside from the new market, Gullas said that Talisay will soon have its own medical center, with the ongoing construction of a four-story Talisay City District Hospital expansion.
The Department of Health (DOH) has allocated P400 million funds for the construction of the new hospital.
Gullas also boasted of the completion of P36 million worth of road asphalting projects measuring about 7.6 kilometers.
The City facilitated the construction of buildings worth P15 million, slope protection structures and seawalls worth P1.2 million.
The 87-year-old mayor said that the City also spent around P5.5 million worth of road concreting projects and P3.6 million for the construction of drainage systems.
In his second year as a city mayor, Gullas said that he is focused on other projects that he has committed during the campaign period, such as completion of the comprehensive drainage master plan.
The City has started implementing drainage projects in Barangays Cansojong and Bulacao worth P50 million.
Another project that he hopes to accomplish this year is the construction of a technical-vocational school, which will be placed in the abandoned city market structure in Barangay Lagtang.
Gullas said that projects he implemented for the City could not have been done without the cooperation of the City Council.
Except for Councilor Valeriano Ylanan, majority of the council members are allied with Gullas. /
