RUNNING Baguio rules CBX 12K run, eyes Milo next
Jezerel Baguio of Infinitea Runners Club bagged the men’s 12-kilometer title in the 30th Anniversary Celebration Fartlek Run at the Cebu Business Park yesterday.
Baguio, 26, wasted no time as he broke away from the pack right from the get-go and never looked back, clocking 45 minutes and 04 seconds to win the top honors in the race organized by CBX Corp. for the benefit of Carreta Elementary School and Home Care Center For Children.
Peter Canumay placed second with a time of 45:43 and was followed by Karl Lee in 49:16.
Baguio, also a triathlete from Sante Barley Team, is preparing for a qualifying leg in the Milo Marathon to earn a slot to the national finals, which will be held in Cebu on Dec. 3.
“I’m training in the morning and also at night for the Milo qualifiers. I’m planning to join the qualifier either in Butuan or Roxas City,” said Baguio, who’s eyeing his fourth stint in the national finals. “I’m excited for the national finals this year because it’s in Cebu.”
Reah Mae Garucho won the women’s 12K race in 56: 38, ul- tramarathoner Sandra Soliano came second in 58:10, while Analyn Lu finished third in 1:20:42.
In the 6K race, Wilben Polancos topped the men’s class in 23:25, beating Clint Tyler, who timed 24:11, and CJ Lipura, who finished third in 26:26.
Francesca Rago ruled the women’s division after clocking 29:32, finishing more than six minutes ahead of runners-up Renalyn Muñoz (35:30) and Gina Rota (36:47).
Jessie Abelgos completed the 3K race in 11:58 to win the men’s division. Jay Mark Orcia clocked 11:59 for second place and Richard Orosco was third in 12:59.
Marielle Estreba topped the women’s 3K in 12:51, she was followed by Nenita Buhat (13:41) and Jeanna Cañete (13:43). /
