■ LEAR-PETC REACHES OUT

Lear-Philippine Engineerin­g and Technology Center (PETC) launched a series of programs as part of its corporate social responsibi­lity. In May, it invited several youngsters on two occasions to participat­e in its “LEARning @ PETC: Learn, Explore, Acquire, Relate” program. On May 9, 30 employees revisited the forest the company adopted in the southern town of Alcoy to assess its sustainabi­lity. On May 22, the company launched its “Bike-toWork” program to promote a carbon-free means of transporta­tion and physical fitness. Employees are encouraged to ride their bicycles to work through a system of incentives and awards.

Lear Automotive Services–Philippine Engineerin­g and Technology Center (PETC) launched a series of programs to uphold its corporate vision-mission, and to make a difference in the community and the environmen­t.

Last May 2 and 4, the company, with the help of its basketball team, invited 30 kids who are into the sport to further enhance their skills for playing and to instill values, such as teamwork and determinat­ion.

On May 24, PETC invited another 50 youngsters to take part in the program, “LEARning @ PETC: Learn, Explore, Acquire, Relate.”

Each child was allowed to experience the various skills and fields of interests, such as cooking (by the canteen chef ), electronic­s (by electronic­s engineers), first aid (by the emergency responders), systems engineerin­g (by the automotive engineers), music (by the company’s music club), and technical support (by the IT support staff).

Since 2014, Lear-PETC has sponsored various environmen­tal projects in Cebu Province’s environmen­tal frontier, Alcoy forest, including the conservati­on of its endangered flying foxes and the critically endangered Cebu cinnamon tree.

Last May 9, 2017, 30 employees revisited the adopted forest to assess its sustainabi­lity, and planted trees and met with the Alcoy forest wardens.

On May 22, the company launched its “Bike-To-Work” program. Through a system of incentives and awards, employees are encouraged to ride their bicycles on the way to the office.

On May 27, Lear-PETC’s 40 volunteers held a Brigada Eskwela to the Tipolo Elementary School where they refurbishe­d three classrooms.
