Miscellany
Birthdays are always a cause for celebration. Fermin Ynclino, who turned 85, chose to celebrate his birthday with his Jesu Christi Community friends at Kuya J. Dinner fare was especially chosen for him by owner Winglip Chang.
Edna Enriquez of Danao City chose to celebrate her natal day by coming to Cebu City for dinner with friends at Grand Majestic. She brought with her a couple from Egypt, her good friends Sherif and Nelly Soliman, who loved the Chinese dinner that was served.
○○○ Relatives and close friends gathered in Cocina de la Casa for a hail/farewell party for balikbayans Chinky Aznar and Ted Penabella. Cocina de la Casa was chosen for Stephen Aznar’s specialties which his sister, U.Sbased Chinky, missed. It was a blast of a party, where food and drinks matched perfectly, chosen especially for the occasion by Stephen.
○○○ Email is such a blessing for connectivity. From Georgia are pictures of the baptism of the much awaited daughter of Angelo and Catherine Tobes. The February born baby was baptized Amare Caitlin by Rev. Fr. Oscar Navarro of the St. Teresa’s Catholic Parish in Albany, Georgia. The baby’s sponsors were Gilbert Sandoval, Rianne Suico, Dr. Erwin Bassig, Precious Tolentino, Joseph Espina, Llewelyn Ledesma, Daphne Talja, Gene Sandiego, Carmelette Anne Serina, Shalisa Nelson, John Paul Baun, Marnette Mata, Emyflor Cheng and Arminda Astur. Reception was at the Tobes residence where a Filipino fiesta of sorts— catered by an enterprising Filipino cook who came up with a Filipino menu complete with the much missed lechon—awaited the guests.
From Bangkok comes news that Lucia Menchavez Thangsupanich, a high school graduate of St. Theresa’s College, Cebu, and a music graduate of the University of the Philippines, with a master of music degree from the University of Houston, Texas, received the distinguished Trinity Award for excellence in music teaching from Mary Ann Tear, SEA (Southeast Asia) drama and performance consultant of the Trinity College Awards. The awarding ceremonies took place at the Bangkok Art and Culture Center. Lucia had moved to Bangkok when she married Thavisakdi Thangsupanich. There she shared her passion for music by perform- ing with orchestras and most especially by teaching music.
