For its strategic use of communication to achieve business goals and create a positive impact in the community, Convergys Philippines’ employee-driven corporate social responsibility ( CSR) campaign, Give A Bag of Hope (GABOH Year 2), was recognized twice in the 2017 Philippines Quill Awards. The campaign received an Award of Excellence in CSR and an Award of Merit in Employee Engagement.
The Philippine Quill is the country’s most prestigious awards program in the field of business communication, organized by the International Association of Business Communicators.
Convergys’ GABOH program illustrates the power of mobilizing and uniting the workforce to help address some of the country’s challenges in education, such as school dropouts due to lack of school supplies, and illiteracy among the youth.
Convergys GABOH Year 2 successfully leveraged the scale of employee volunteerism achieved via voluntary salary pledges and in-kind donations.
The employees distributed bags with school supplies to elementary school students in 36 public schools and communities nationwide. Over 10,500 volunteer hours were spent.
“As we commence the third year of this program, we remain committed to increasing our ef- forts so that we can continue to bring positive change and demonstrate the Convergys value of serving the community,” said Convergys president for Asia-Pacific Ivic Mueco.
