Road rage victim wants apology from driver

- RVC

Another road rage victim in Cebu City will not file complaints against the driver of a car who allegedly threatened him, on two conditions.

The victim wants the driver to apologize and have the latter’s license suspended, said Councilor Dave Tumulak.

Tumulak, deputy mayor for police matters, said he talked to the victim yesterday after Mayor Tomas Osmeña requested him to act on the matter.

“What he (victim) wants is only an apology from the driver because he is willing to accept it. The family of the driver is already aware about it and they’re willing to do it. The two parties will soon meet,” he said.

As to the suspension of the license, Tumulak said the victim wants the driver to learn a lesson on how to manage his temper while on the road.

In his Facebook post last Wednesday, Patrick Iway Bitoy narrated how a car driver overtook him and almost hit his vehicle and some motorcycles on Archbishop Reyes Ave.

“As a natural reaction of almost getting caught in an accident, I honked my horn and turned my headlights on high for two to three seconds and it was just to let him know that there was someone at his rear whom he almost hit,” Bitoy said.

However, Bitoy’s action irked the other driver. The latter shouted and threatened to kill him.

The victim forwarded the police report about the incident and his request for the suspension of the driver’s license to the Land Transportation Office yesterday. /
