■ MISSED THE CEBU MARATHON EARLY SIGN-UP? HERE’S A SECOND CHANCE
Organizers of the 2018 Cebu Marathon reported that nearly 1,500 runners turned up for the early registration from July 28 to 30. The response was so positive that the organizers decided to arrange for another early sign-up period, this time from Aug. 4 to 6 near the New Balance store in the Ayala Center Cebu. For the early sign-up, runners will get a discounted rate of P1,400 for the marathon and P1,100 for the half-marathon, and they’ll be entitled to a special 2XU race shirt that usually costs around P2,200.

To say that the 2018 Cebu Marathon early registration last weekend was successful is an understatement.
Close to 1,500 runners availed themselves of the early registration for the race, getting a a limited edition commemorative 2XU Race Tee, which costs P2,200. The registration fee is P1,400 for the marathon and P1,100 for the 21K.
During the three-day span-from July 28 to 30--the 42-kilometer category attracted 638 participants while the 21K had 716.
The runners, however, will have another chance to score a 2XU race tee as the early registration will resume on Aug. 4 to 6.
“Because many more are clamoring for the 2XU race tees, the organizers have decided to extend for one time only this weekend: Friday to Sunday, Aug. 4 to 6,” John Pages of Cebu Executive Runners Club (CERC), the organizer of the event, told SunStar Cebu yesterday.
The registration venue will be transferred to the New Balance
Store in Ayala Center Cebu for this weekend. Online registration is also available at www.cebumarathon.ph.
The Cebu Marathon, which was started by CERC in 2008, will stage the 11th edition on Jan. 14, 2018 at the Cebu Business Park.
The CERC will take over the race anew after Runrio, a Manila-based running company, managed it for the past four editions. CERC handled the first six years of the event, which is one of the Sinulog Festival activities. /
