CIDG 7 to make sure subpoena reaches Peter Lim

- RTF, KAL

Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) 7 Director Royina Garma said they will send copies of the subpoena for alleged drug trafficker Peter Lim at his business offices.

She said they will ensure that Lim will personally receive the subpoena, summoning him to appear before the Department of Justice (DOJ) in Manila on Aug. 14 and 17 at 10 a.m., to answer the complaint.

CIDG 7-Cebu Provincial Unit operatives served the subpoena for the third time last Tuesday afternoon in Lim’s house in Barangay Kasambagan, Cebu City.

Lim’s security guard Antonio Rosellosa received the subpoena from the CIDG team led by Chief Insp. Chuck Barandog.

The DOJ, in an earlier report, ordered Lim to answer the com- plaints on Aug. 14 and 17 at 10 a.m. in a preliminary investigation for the violation of Section 26, Paragraph B, pertaining to conspiracy in selling drugs in Section 5 of Republic Act (RA) 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

They served the subpoena twice last week, but both attempts failed.

On the first attempt, helpers faced the operatives, but they did not accept the subpoena. No one faced the operatives on the second attempt.

Meanwhile, the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) will help CIDG 7 in locating Lim.

Senior Supt. Joel Doria, the CCPO director, said any information that his personnel, including the intelligence operatives, about Lim will be given to CIDG.

When asked if Lim will ask for security escorts from CCPO, Doria said only Police Director Ronald dela Rosa can decide on that.

Aside from the subpoena intended for Lim, Garma said they also received five subpoenas from DOJ—three John Does and for slain drug lord Rowen “Yawa” Secretaria.

Garma said they are part of the case build-up against the politicians and police officials identified as drug protectors by President Rodrigo Duterte.

The CIDG, she said, is tasked to look into the financial statuses of these personalities.

Garma said some government agencies they tapped to help them in their investigation are not cooperative, but they will find ways to gather information.

Osmeña

Despite some personal misgivings on the present administration, Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña sees no problem with the CIDG 7 serving a subpoena on Lim.

The mayor said the CIDG is just doing its job in strengthening the government’s efforts in the war against illegal drugs.

“When it comes to anti-drugs, President Rodrigo Duterte is a lot better than his predecessors and presidential candidates. Let’s give credit where credit is due. They’re doing their jobs as far as the anti-drug (campaign) is concerned,” he said. /
