Fast food chain inspected

Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña inspected a fast food chain in the Fuente Osmeña area yesterday after receiving a complaint about the stench and unsanitary conditions inside the store.

Osmeña got a text message from a concerned citizen, who said that Orange Brutus in Fuente was filthy.

“Hopefully, the City Health Department can check this. There’s foul smell from the water in the kitchen. The kitchen door was partly open and I saw how dirty it was. It was untidy and stinky. I hope they check on this before people get sick,” reads the text message.

Osmeña warned the fast food owner and gave the management time to act on the complaint.

Yesterday, the mayor had lunch in Orange Brutus in Fuente and checked if they already fixed the problem.

He said he’s satisfied with how the management responded to his warning.

“We want to hear reports like this from the people. Just text me, we will look into it,” he said.

But since he can’t visit every establishment, the mayor said he will have City Hall personnel check on the complaints.

Julius Laticse, branch manager of Orange Brutus in Fuente, admitted that they had a problem with their drainage last week, which was already addressed.

“We called our maintenance about it. The main pipes of our drainage system were replaced. The branch is well-maintained because we have a company program on cleanliness,” he said. /
