- ANGEL MAE BELLITA, USJ-R INTERN

The Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) wants to buy 32 closed- circuit television cameras worth P2 million as additional security measure at the facility. Acting warden Roberto “Bobby” Legaspi said the cameras, which will use wireless internet protocol, will allow Gov. Hilario Davide III and jail officials to monitor activities inside the jail through their mobile devices any time. The cameras will be installed in the jail’s hallways and will be able to capture footage throughout the facility and its perimeter. There are less than 30 old cameras that are installed in the CPDRC, but most of them are no longer functioning. Legaspi said the old cameras are outdated and their monitoring function is not optimal.
