Run for Humanity to help 10 adopted families
The Compassion for Humanity International Group (Chigi) will host a fun run for the benefit of less fortunate families set on Sept. 2 at the Parkmall grounds in Mandaue City.
The fun run dubbed as Run 4 Chigi-A Run for Humanity will have three categories—the 10-kilometer, 5K and 3K. All the categories will have the men's and women's divisions.
The proceeds of the race will go to Chigi's community livelihood project in Subangdaku, Mandaue City. The project of Chigi, a non-profit organization, focuses on the liveli- hood of the less fortunate families and scholarship of their children.
“We have 10 adopted less fortunate families and we help their children and also the livelihood of the parents,” said one of the organizers Micah Cadorna during the event's press conference yesterday.
Race director Bien Probadora said that they're expecting to reach 2,000 participants. To get that number, they have partnered with various schools and churches in Cebu.
The partner schools include the University of Southern Philippines-Foundation (USP-F), University of San Carlos-Talamban Campus, University of Cebu and St. Paul College Foundation Inc.
“This is also in partnership with churches. The event is an opportunity to pray for our city and country. We have a prayer walk, a prayer rally and this one is a chance for a prayer run,” said Pastor Brenard Condrado.
