Of movie stars and blackouts
Cannes Filmfest best actress 2016 Jacklyn Jose attended the preview of the movie
Patay Na Si Hesus at the Cinema 5 of Robinsons Galleria Cebu last Sunday. She plays the role of a mother of three who was estranged from her husband for years. Playing the role of her children are Chai Fonacier, Vincent Viado and Melde Montanez.
Though the movie is basically drama, it has funny moments that didn’t escape the spectators’ attention. The audience erupted into a hearty applause at the end of the screening. Jacklyn was so busy at the time of the shoot thus she had only a short time getting used to the Visayan or Cebuano language but it turned out convincing.
Patay Na Si Hesus will open on Wednesday, Aug. 16, being part of the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino.
*** Ambassador Frank Benedicto once again spent time with some Cebu media practitioners in a hearty lunch at the Grand Convention Center last Friday. Colleague Sam Costanilla took charge of contacting the guests. A magician who tried his luck once at the
Pilipinas Got Talent provided intermission numbers in between. Ambassador Benedicto said another gettogether will happen in December.
*** Because of the hype, I saw to it that I was at home to watch the “wildest wedding” of Arnaldo Ardiente and Ivy Aguas in Wildflower last Wednesday. Maja Salvador as Ivy, the bride in black, was already at the church’s entrance preparing to make her first step toward the altar. Then all of a sudden, the lights went out. Blackout in Guadalupe, Cebu City! What a letdown! In the darkness, I changed and went out to cool off. Whew!
