Police arrested in Talamban, Cebu City last Friday a man who allegedly blackmailed an ex-girlfriend. He was accused of creating a Facebook account using his ex’s name and photo, on which he then posted pictures of them having sex.

The suspect, whose arrest warrant Regional Trial Court Judge Soliver Peras had issued, will need to raise P70,000 for bail. He will be tried for allegedly violating Republic Act 9995 or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009.

Those found guilty of violating this law will face three to seven years in prison or a fine of P100,000 to P500,000. A judge may impose both penalties. The law makes it illegal to take photos or video of persons having sex, or of any person’s private parts without that person’s consent. Copying and distributing these photos or video are also illegal, even if the person agreed to have that photo or video taken.

A man who allegedly blackmailed his girlfriend and uploaded their intimate photos on Facebook was arrested in Barangay Talamban, Cebu City last Friday afternoon.

Regional Anti-Cybercrime Office 7 Chief Leo Shiroma Dofiles said they arrested Kayze Ryan Miñoza based on the warrant of arrest issued by Cebu City Regional Trial Court Branch 10 Judge Soliver Peras.

Miñoza is facing trial for allegedly violating Republic Act (RA) 9995, or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009.

The case stemmed from the complaint filed by Miñoza’s former girlfriend, who dated him for four years.

The complainant broke up with Miñoza when she got tired of his demanding attitude.

The accused got mad, so he allegedly created a Facebook account using his former girlfriend’s name and photo.

Miñoza allegedly uploaded their photos that were taken while having sex. He threatened he would post more pictures if she continued to ignore him. /
