■ NEW LIFESTYLE STREET MARKET OPENS NEAR AYALA
From 5 p.m. onward, Tuesdays to Saturdays, a new lifestyle street market in the Cebu Business Park will try to help startup entrepreneurs reach more buyers, while at the same time create a must-see tourist stop in Cebu. The team behind Tinda Locale is seeking an endorsement from the Department of Tourism 7. The outdoor food and retail market can seat 400 people and host at least 34 tenant-stalls spread across 1,200 square meters in the Linear Park of Cebu Holdings Inc., that area across the Cebu City Marriott Hotel. It opened last Friday.
A new lifestyle street market is offering a venue for startup entrepreneurs to showcase their products and services.
Tinda Locale, an outdoor food and retail market at the Linear Park of Cebu Business Park (across Cebu City Marriott Hotel), is showcasing the best of Cebu from gastronomic delights to bargain shopping, a concept mounted by Guru Ads & Marketing Consultancy.
The street market officially opened last Friday.
Julienne Eva Guanzon, director for operations for Tinda Locale, said the objective of the lifestyle street market is simple—and that is to become a destination where all homegrown food and retail players can converge and showcase the best of Cebu.
“Other countries have very robust street market destinations. With Filipino cuisine considered the rising star in the gastronomic world, we envision for Tinda Locale to be the street market destination for both locals and tourists,” said Bruce Bollozos, managing director of Tinda Locale, in a statement.
“Tinda Locale hopes to be a driving impetus in the growing movement to support and grow local communities,” he added.
Tinda Locale occupies 1,200 square meters of The Linear Park. It can accommodate a total of 34 tenants and has a seating capacity of 400 people.
The company has secured a one-year lease with Cebu Holdings Inc., the company behind the operations of Cebu Business Park and Cebu IT Park.
The street market opens from Tuesday until Saturday from 5 p.m. onward.
While it seeks to attract both local and foreign tourists, Guanzon said they are seeking the endorsement of the Department of Tourism (DOT) 7, to make them part of Cebu’s tourism itinerary.
“We want this to be a destination,” she said in an interview.
Tenants at the Tinda Locale pay rent of P25,000 per month. Weekly and locked-in rates are also available. For a startup entrepreneur, Guanzon said, this investment is cheaper compared to mall rates. “Our advocacy is to help new startups,” she said.
The organizers are banking on their strategic location for consistent foot traffic and sales, being surrounded by residences, offices and other commercial establishments.
