An active police officer whom President Rodrigo Duterte had named as one of the drug protectors in Central Visayas was killed in a shootout in Barangay Biasong, Talisay City last night.

Senior Supt. Jonathan Cabal, Regional Intelligence Division (RID) 7 chief, identified him as PO3 Ryan Martus Quiamco, a high-value target who sustained fatal wounds after he tried to fight with RID 7 operatives at 6 last night.

Qiamco’s wife Reselyn and three bystanders—Carla Teshia Macabunas, 12; Nido dela Cerna, 41; and Aime Raganas, 27—were brought to Talisay City District Hospital for treatment.

The shootout occurred outside Quiamco’s house in Corona del Mar Subdivision in Barangay Pooc, said Supt. Emerson Dante, Talisay City police chief.

Dante said they assisted the RID in locating Quiamco.

Quiamco was an alleged underling of self-confessed drug lord Franz Sabalones.

An intelligence officer, who requested not to be named, said that Quiamco traveled to Ozamiz City to get the illegal drugs.

An undercover officer negotiated with Quiamco, who agreed to meet with him at a mall.

The venue later changed to the South Road Properties. During the operation, Quiamco was in his black pickup truck. He opened fire after he noticed he was dealing with the police. A running gun battle ensued, until he was hit.

No one among the operatives was injured.

Several packs of shabu, Quiamco’s firearms and bullets were seized.
