Sharks stay clean; Dragons fall, 72-61

Accenture Sharks are on a roll as they kept their record clean following a 72-61 win against the SupportSav­e Dragons in the Elite Classic of the 2017 CSCC E-League held at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym last Sunday.

The Sharks played sharp for the first three quarters to establish a 55-37 lead before slowing down in the final period, allowing the Dragons to outscore Accenture, 24-17, in the final count.

Archie Batua missed a double-double performanc­e as he scored the game-high 21 points, grabbed nine rebounds and made four assists.

Ryan Llanos added 14 points and Miguel Calo tallied 10 markers for Accenture, while Niño Belande scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and had four assists. Juan Sebial finished with 10 points as SupportSav­e suffered its third loss in seven games.

Wipro Tigers scored their fourth straight win after suffering three losses as they defeated the SSI Warriors, 80-62.

Wipro opened the game with 27-17 binge and never looked back to seal an 18-point rout.

Pol Alfeche scored 23 points, Ernie Ygot added 13 and Al De los Santos contribute­d 10 points, while Wipro’s Rhett Tomakin topscored with 15 points and Vince Guiwanon had 14 points for SSI’s sixth straight loss in as many games.

Meanwhile, Robert Gilo scored 18 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and had two blocks. Nolan de la Peña added 18 points, eight rebounds and dished out four assists to help Eperformax Reds score an 84-68 win over the Telstra Boomerangs in the other Elite Classic game.

While in the lone Evo League game, the Tech Mahindra Tech Mighties proved too much for Streamline Kangaroos following a 90-38 beating with King Olbes, Philipp Carrabuena and Robert Rebaño combining for 38 points for the winning squad. /
