57 teachers join PSI-PSC seminar

The Philippine Sports Institute (PSI) of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) held the one-day 2017 Sports Mapping Action Research Talent Identifica­tion (Smart ID) Train the Trainers Program at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Old Campus gym last Wednesday.

Fifty seven out of 83 expected participan­ts arrived to learn the systematic and scientific talent identifica­tion for the Visayas area.

“They were trained to identify and measure the different attributes of young kids. They will form their own teams in their areas to help PSI find new talents in every corner of their area,” said PSC commission­er Ramon Fernandez.

Central Visayas had 23 participan­ts, coming from Cebu City, Talisay City, Naga City, Toledo City, Bogo City and Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu Province, Siquijor and Bohol, Tagbilaran City.

The trainers were all PE teachers from the Department of Education who will be tasked to conduct training to student-athletes and identify them as internatio­nal potential.

Aside from the participan­ts from Region 7, there were also 17 from Eastern Visayas, while Mandaue City, Danao City and Carcar City failed to send representa­tives.

The training was supervised by Fernandez, PSI Deputy National DirectorPr­of. Henry Daut and PSC Visayas Executive Director Bobbi Kintanar and PSI Visayas Coordinato­r Nonnie Lopez. /
