Flowing concoctions
Crimson Resort and Spa Mactan’s Azure Beach Club hosted the Blue Party last July 29, which is now on its third year.
Year after year, the Blue Party not only gives its guests that Azure signature and experience but also provides an avenue to proudly showcase home-grown talents from music, art and fashion.
That night, Cebuano fashion designer Hanz Coquilla completed the Blue Party experience as he presented his designs in a fashion show, donned by models as well as personalities including Charlita Muego, Miss Cebu 2016 Raine Baljak, Merce Abellana, Neesha Murjani and Homilee’s Zaida Lee.
Two of his brands were showcased that night: his custom line called Hanz Coquilla Alta Costura and retail line Coquille, a line launched through a fashion show in Beppu Oita, Japan a year ago.
Breezy and flowy; that was how Hanz described the designs presented during the show.
“The designs were made especially for the event. Since the show was on the beachfront, in Azure, I made pieces that are flowy and breezy. I made sure that each piece reflects the kind of audience Azure has,” he said.
“I used silk chiffon, jersey, lace and neoprene in most of the pieces. I also added interesting prints like leopard, peacock and tiger prints to make the collection fun and hip. I’ve always loved seeing women wearing animal prints. I mean, animal prints are not for everyone and only the brave ‘few’ can pull it off.”
