REPUTATION: LOOK WHAT YOU MADE TAYLOR DO!

-

Taylor Swift has released her new single: “Look What You Made Me Do” late Thursday to streaming platforms and iTunes. The song, featuring elements of pop, dance and house, includes sharp lyrics like: "I got a list of names and yours is in red, underlined. I check it once. Then I check it twice."

The anticipation of "Look What You Made Me Do" helped Swift, 27, trend heavily on social media: #LookWhatYouMadeMeDo was the number one trending topic worldwide for hours, while #Taylor was number two.

The song is the first single from her sixth album, "Reputation," to be released Nov. 10. Her last album, "1989," was released three years ago.

Swift wiped her social media pages clean last week and caused a frenzy online with video snippets of slithery snake parts. Swift was attacked by snake emojis on social media following Kim Kardashian's revelation that Swift, who was referenced as a “bitch” in Kanye West's single “Famous,” approved the use of her name in the song.

Rolling Stone magazine thinks “Look What You Made Me Do” is a West diss track.

“While not mentioning Kanye West by name, the song's lyrics (West notably used a tilted stage on his recent Saint Pablo tour) alongside the phone voice appear to reference her long, public feud with the rapper,” dissected Rolling Stone.

The pop star's single starts with the lyrics: “I don't like your little games. Don't like your tilted stage. The role you made me play. Of the fool, no, I don't like you. I don't like your perfect crime. How you laugh when you lie. You said the gun was mine.”

The track ends with a voice message of Swift saying, "I'm sorry, but the old Taylor can't come to the phone right now. Why? Oh, 'cause she's dead."

That's another clue that the song could be about West since Kim Kardashian recorded the phone conversation between her rapper-husband and Swift.

And that's when the snake emojis attacked Swift.

Rather than get mad, Swift embraced the snake and used the reptile to tease her first single and upcoming album.

Swift and West's public feud started in 2009 when the rapper stole the pop star's microphone during the Video Music Awards to declare that Beyonce deserved the Best Female Video award.

The two tried to bury the hatchet and were friendly for a few years until West released “Famous,” which carries the lyrics: “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that bitch famous.”

Swift released a statement thereafter saying West did not ask for her approval of the lyrics. She said she also cautioned the rapper against using his strong misogynistic message.

But then Kardashian released the video of the phone conversation between West and Swift on Snapchat, where Swift was heard telling West: “I really appreciate it. Like the heads up is so nice.”
