■ DAR STAFF LEARN GENDER AND DEVELOPMENT ANALYSIS
The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Central Visayas held a three-day training workshop on gender analysis to help staff working for the Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System understand the basic gender concepts and tools for gender analysis. GAD facilitator James Arsenio said the training allowed the GFPS members a clear understanding of the benefits of gender analysis. “This training capacitated the members in arming them with tools and approaches in applying gender responsiveness in the department,” said Ponce.
At least 44 members of the Gender and Development Focal Point System attended the 3-day event; they are from the DAR 7 main office and DAR offices in the provinces of Cebu, Bohol, and Siquijor
The Department of Agrarian Reform ( DAR) Central Visayas recently conducted a three-day training workshop on gender analysis at the Coco Palm Resort in Danao City, Cebu.
It was aimed at helping members of the department’s Gender and Development Focal Point System ( GFPS) understand the basic gender concepts and tools for gender analysis.
Gender and development (GAD) facilitator James Arsenio Ponce said that the training greatly helped the GFPS members in understanding the concepts and benefits of genders analysis.
“This training capacitated the members in arming them with tools and approaches in applying gender responsiveness in the department,” said Ponce.
Ponce taught the GFPS members the salient features of the harmonized gender and development guidelines, which include application of gender analysis tools, analysis and its benefits, its approaches and data gathering.
The training was attended by 44 members of the GFPS from the DAR Regional Office 7 and DAR offices in Cebu, Bohol, and Siquijor.
The lectures and activities were facilitated by Director James Arsenio O. Ponce of the Presidential Agrarian Reform Council (PARC) secretariat, a member of the Gender and Development Resource Pool of the Philippine Commission of Women.
