SunStar absorbs 1st loss in NBAC

SunStar/Motor Ace suffered its first loss in the Newsmen Basketball Associatio­n Cebu (NBAC) with a 73-69 defeat in the hands of defending champion GMA7/DYSS Kapuso yesterday at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex.

Julius Vidal led GMA-7/DYSS Kapuso with 20 points, while Renante Quiñones and Jun Solon added 11 and 10, respective­ly.

Philip Cerojano was SunStar/ Motor Ace's top scorer with 18 markers, while sports writer Richiel Chavez chipped in 13.

CCTN and guest team Mandaue City Selection remained unbeaten.

CCTN squeaked past Bombo/ Brigada/Home Radio, 49-48.

Rodel Quimod carried the offensive load of CCTN with 15 points, while Juril Patiño scored a game high 24 points in a losing effort by Bombo/Brigada/Home Radio.

Former University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancer Ritchum Dennison led the Mandaue City Selection to a 76-49 beating of CDN/V-Drink.

Dennison exploded for 22 points for the Mandaue City Selection, while Jonas Panerio scored 24 points for CDN/V-Drink.

Cerberus logged their first victory after beating RPN/DYKC.

Sports writers Calvin Cordova and Lemuel, and Nestor Homecillo all had 12 points apiece, while Jefferson Cañada added 10 for Cerberus, which is comprised of The Freeman, DYHP, My TV and Sportsnet.ph.

Gregorio Velazquez led RPN/ DYKC with 17 points.

CCTN and Mandaue City Selection are at the top with 2-0 records. SunStar/Motor Ace, GMA7/DYSS Kapuso, CDN/V-Drink and Cerberus have identical 1-1 slates. RPN/DYKC and Bombo/ Brigada/Home Radio are at the bottom with 0-2./
