Jumamil, Manayon rule race

Cebu’s Paul Jumamil and Karen Andrea Manayon stamped their class in the Kadawayan Triathlon 2017, winning the men’s and women’s sprint overall title at the Villa Josefina Resort Village in Toril, Davao City last Sunday.

Jumamil of Rider Omega Tri Team clocked 1 hour, 2 minutes and 11 seconds, beating Joshua Alexander Ramos of Podium Boutique Hotel Tri Team by more than three minutes.

Godwin Jacob Taylor finished in third place with a time of 1:07:46.

Jumamil was the first to finish the 700-meter swim leg in 9:23 before pulling away in the bike segment with 33:31. He continued to dominate the race and finished the run portion in 19:17.

National junior team member Manayon, who also represente­d Rider Omega Tri Team, won the overall title in the women’s class with a time of 1:11:52.

Manayon, the junior triathlete from Talisay City, Cebu, led from the get-go. She finished the swim in 9:15, completed the bike course in 38:33 and timed 23:54 in the run part.

Nicole Danielle Eijansanto­s, also a member of the national junior team, settled second overall with 1:12:34.

Cebuana junior triathlete Moira Frances Erediano, also from Rider Omega Pro, topped the girls’ 13-15 class with a total time of 41:08.

Erediano who hails from Lapu-Lapu City clocked 11:30 in the 400m swim, finished the 9K bike course in 15:03 and completed the 3K run in 14:35. /
