Alazas bags CCC’s August title
Alvin Alazas ruled the Class A division of the 2017 Cebu Country Club Monthly Medal Tournament for August at the club’s layout in Banilad.
Alazas, an 11-handicapper, scored 66 to win by four storkes over junior golf standout Peter Tyler Po.
Po settled for second place after beating Gen Nagai, Eric Deen and Ferdie Chua via countback. Nagai also beat Deen and Chua in a countback for third place.
Jiji Gullas bagged the Class B crown after firing a 67, one stroke clear of second placer Collin Go. Georga Tsai shot 69 for third place.
Jose Abellana reigned in the Class C with a score of 65. Ramon Durano IV scored 68 for second place, while Steve Maniquis had 71 and beat Pete Polo and Raymond Tio in a countback for third place.
Naotsugu Isobe came up with 64 to take the Class D top honors over Derek Go and Thomas Ware, who had 69 and 71, respectively.
In the seniors’ division, Cesar Libi took the title after scoring 67, one point ahead of second plac- er Ben Dapat, who beat Roberto Escano on a countback. Escano settled for third place.
In the ladies division, Catrina Martinez scored 69 points to ink a four-stroke win over runners-up Carla Go and Riko Nagai, who had identical 73s. Go took second place after beating Nagai in a countback.
In the guest division, Olin Seno scored 74 to reign over Tedd Almario and Carlos Claur, who both carded 76. Almario placed second while Claur settled third after the countback. /
