SHS beats UV, takes top seed in Milo SBP

Sacred Heart School (SHS-AdC) takes the top seed going into the SBP semifinals of the 32nd SBP Passerelle Twin Tournament backed by Milo after a closely-contested 49-45 victory over defending champion University of the Visayas (UV) last weekend at the Magis Eagles Arena of SHS-AdC in Canduman, Mandaue City.

It was a rematch of last year’s Cebu leg championship match, but this time around, the outcome was different with SHS-AdC coming out as the victors. Jared Bahay led the Magis Eagles’ offense with 11 points, while Daniel Padilla had a game high 18 points for UV.

Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC), on the other hand, clinched a playoff spot with a 79-19 annihilation of Southwestern University (SWU)-Phinma. Sid Reroma paced the Graywolves with 12 points, while Nash Cabradill hd seven points for the Baby Cobras.

DBTC will play University of San Carlos (USC) this weekend to determine the third and fourth seeds.

SHS-AdC and UV also clinched the top seeds in their respective groups in the Passerelle division with wins over the weekend.

SHS-AdC crushed Cebu Eastern College (CEC), 77-36, in Group B with LA Casinillo and Joseph Dytian scoring 11 points apiece for the Magis Eagles. LJ Dellosa had eight for CEC.

UV also walked away with an easy 74-37 victory against University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) in Group A. Mike Monton and Neil Fajardo scored 11 points each for UV, while Rhyle Mabanto had six points in a losing effort by USPF.

SWU-Phinma clinched the other semifinals spot of Group A with a 58-46 win over Abellana National School (ANS).

Aaron Nacario topped SWU-Phinma with 14, while Gene Bayonita added 12. Kent Limana had 17 points, while Vincent Boy chipped in 13 for ANS.

USC also earned a playoff spot with a close 59-53 win against DBTC in Group B.

Justin Atiliano and Reinhard Jumamoy led USC with nine each. Vincent Escobido had 13 and Elrich Zulueta added 10 points for DBTC. /
