Big Yellow pugs hope to revive careers

- EKA

Big Yellow pugs Marjun Pantilgan and Carlo Demecillo look to bounce back tomorrow night as they see action in Guindulman, Bohol. Pantilgan takes on Boholano Jason Tinampay, while Demecillo slugs it out with heavy-handed Delfin de Asis.

The 23-year-old Pantilgan is eager to return to the winning column after losing his latest fight, a ninth round stoppage against Robert Onggocan in an International Boxing Federation (IBF) Youth flyweight bout in June. Before that loss, he has won three straight fights this year.

Tinampay, like Pantilgan, is also in dire need of a win. He last won back in January of last year with a third round stoppage of Marjhun Tabamo but lost three of his next four fights against Jhack Tepora, Jhaleel Payao and Romero Duno.

Pantilgan is 14-5 with 11 knockouts, while the 22-year- old Tinampay is 8-5-1 with seven knockouts.

The 21-year-old Demecillo is looking to end his two-fight slump after losses to Japanese fighters Satoshi Shimizu and Hisashi Amigasa.

De Asis, 24, is riding a fourbout winning streak, with his lat- est win, a majority decision over Jason Mopon in July. Demecillo is 6-4 with a knockout, while de Asis is 6-3 with four knockouts.

Christopher “Ping-Ping” Tepora, who once trained two-division world champion Johnriel Casimero, has high hopes for his young promising wards. /
