No consultants for the opposition

The “former political hasbeen” only approved the hiring of the consultants of Rama, Daluz and Zafra

Opposition members of the Cebu City Council should stop demanding from the “former political has-been” the hiring of their consultants. They are just wasting their time and effort. We already know his attitude. The more he is pressured, the more he will deny a request. He wants people to kneel before him. Also, it’s as if he owns City Hall.

Members of Barug Team Rama (except for Councilors Edu Rama, Joey Daluz and ABC president Felix Zafra) are criticizing the “former political-has been” because he did not approve the hiring of their consultants, saying the issue has been resolved before with the agreement by the executive and legislative departments that councilors are entitled to hire consultants.

The “former political has-been” only approved the hiring of the consultants of Rama, Daluz and Zafra because they voted for his “favorite project,” the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT). “Why will I let them work against me?” the “former political has-been” said.

Again, it is a personal matter. Because these councilors did not support his BRT project, they are suffering the consequences.

The opposition claims that during the term of “has-been” mayor Michael Rama, Bando Osmeña-Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK) councilors were entitled to hire consultants. Well, as the saying goes, “Ibang hari, ibang ugali.”

Or go to court.

The shame campaign launched by Pajo, LapuLapu City barangay captain Junard “Ahong” Chan has triggered reactions from different sectors. Some supported the move while others are against it. Chan spray-painted the houses of residents known to have been involved in illegal drug activities.

Chan started it in a compound where most of the renters admitted to have been involved in illegal drugs. The owner of the compound requested Chan and the police to mark the units of his renters. Interviewed by the media, some occupants admitted their involvement in illegal drugs. A housewife said her house was used as a drug den. She collected P10 per person.

As usual, the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) intervened by asking Chan to stop his shame campaign as it violates the human and constitutional rights of the “targets” and could subject them to abuses.

Instead of criticizing this move, why don’t the CHR people go with Chan in his campaign and advise and convince those involved to stop pushing and using drugs? And if these people will not stop, that’s the time they will put markings in their houses.

The CHR is too concerned with the human rights of people involved in illegal drugs but is it concerned with the “damages” done by these people to the community and to society in general? Mas maayo pa nang pakauwawan lang kay sa pamatyon deretso.
