Brunchoiunt’

- MONICA R. LOPEZ / Writer

Let’s face it. If there was a chance to stay in bed half of the day, one would take it. Thankfully, when the urge to eat breakfast at a later time comes, there are spots in Cebu that cater to those cravings, hence, brunch. Here are just some of the many brunch spots in the city: SUNDAY BRUNCH+ AT CAFÉ MARCO Marco Polo Plaza Cebu Sunday, 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

It’s brunch and so much more. At Marco Polo Plaza Cebu’s Café Marco, the brunch experience is taken up a notch and not just because of its buffet favorites like roast beef or smoked meats at the carving station, the hotel’s specialty items like pizzas fresh out the oven; its Bloody Mary DIY station, or its cornucopia of international cuisines with the option to indulge in a glass (or two) of bubblies like Mimosas. More than that, there’s a string of activities designed to make the day more memorable like face painting or balloon twisting for the kids; and live music entertainment and a complementary five-minute massage for the adults. Truly a Sunday lifestyle. BICESTER CAFE Mahogany Arcade, Pope John Paul II Ave., Kasambagan, Mabolo, Cebu City Monday to Saturday: 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday: 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Rapidly becoming one of the go-to restaurants, Bicester is a latest addition to Cebu City’s growing list of brunch spots in the city, and not just for brunch but also for coffee, cocktails and pastries (as seen in the neon sign in the cafe). It’s inspired by Bicester Village, a shopping district in Oxford. Enjoy its all- day brunch specialties paired with specialty grade coffee. Some of its items on the menu include the tapa rice, chicken and waffle, banana pancakes and many more. THE PIG & PALM’S SPECIAL WEEKEND BRUNCH MSY Tower, Pescadores Road, Cebu Business Park, Cebu City Saturdays and Sundays, 11:00 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Pig & Palm is prized for its Spanish tapas menu, putting the spotlight on pork dishes with unique cocktails and bar snacks offered at the adjoining bar. On weekends, it serves brunch.

Found at the center of the metropolis, it still retains a tranquil and light kind of vibe making it one of the city’s picturesque and top spots to brunch. After all, the idea of brunching is to hang back, relax and savor the joys of getting eggs benedict at a later time of the day (which they have as well, of course). Check out its bestsellers like avocado toast, salmon fi shcakes and confit pork belly to name a few.
