CABIN TRAINING FOR ASPIRANTS COMING TO CEBU SOON
International Cabin Attendant Training School will hold sessions in Cebu to make it easier for aspirants to join the industry
A Manila-based flight attendant (FA) training school is expanding its services to Cebu, starting with an information session and physical assessment this weekend, Sept. 15 and 16, in the Cebu Parklane International Hotel. The International Cabin Attendant Training School (ICATS) launched this year its Connecting Flight Program, which is meant to bring training to aspiring Fas who live outside Metro Manila and would find it difficult to go there for the course. The information session and course is open to aspirants 18 to 30 years old. According to the ICATS website, the FA program is a 30-day course.

It announced it will be holding its first FA training seminar to attract Cebuano FA aspirants to support the growth of the global aviation industry.
International Cabin Attendant Training School (ICATS) launched this year its new program called “Connecting Flight Program”, an initiative that aims to bring the training school closer to the FA aspirants living in the provinces.
“We aim to reach out to those who dream to become flight attendants but could not travel to Manila for many personal reasons. This is our sole purpose,” said ICATS president and chief executive officer Princess Joy Garcia.
She added they aim to visit as many provinces across the country and reach out to as many aspiring FAs.
The Connecting Flight Program information session and physical assessment is slated on Sept. 15 and 16; Sept. 22 and 23; and Oct. 6 and 7 at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m at the Cebu Parklane International Hotel.
Garcia said they target FA aspirants aged between 18 and 30 years old, male or female, to join the free information session and physical assessment to see if they meet airline qualifications. After which, Garcia added there will offer job assistance to help qualified aspirants get in the airline of their choice.
According to its website, ICATS FA program is a 30-day intense course designed to meet and be at par with the flight attendant training standards of an international airline. It offers up-to-date and in-depth flight attendant training focused on knowledge, skills and hands-on based components.
The Center for Asia Pacific Aviation (Capa) said in a report that passenger traffic could experience growth of “approximately 10 percent” for 2017, as most in Southeast Asia should also continue to experience “rapid growth” in 2017 and beyond, led by Vietnam and Myanmar.
“The Philippines had passenger growth of approximately 10 percent in 2016. The Philippines has the fastest-growing economy in Southeast Asia, with its GDP (gross domestic product) expanding by an estimated 6.4 percent in 2016. Given the economic growth, the passenger growth would have been even faster, if it had not been for infrastructure constraints at the capital, Manila,” Capa said in its report.
Last year, global passenger traffic rose 6.3 percent compared to 2015, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA). It said airline capacity rose to 6.2 percent compared to 2015.
“Air travel was a good news story in 2016. Connectivity increased with the establishment of more than 700 new routes. And a $44 fall in average return fares helped to make air travel even more accessible. As a result, a record 3.7 billion passengers flew safely to their destination. Demand for air travel is still expanding,” said Alexandre de Juniac, IATA’s director general and CEO, in a statement.
“The challenge for governments is to work with the industry to meet that demand with infrastructure that can accommodate the growth, regulation that facilitates growth and taxes that don’t choke growth. If we can achieve that, there is plenty of potential for a safe, secure and sustainable aviation industry to create more jobs and increase prosperity,” he added.
