4 VILLAGES TO TEST MOBILE RESPONSE APP
Sugbotech Inc. says app will allow people to report incidents faster, allowing a quick and coordinated deployment of emergency responders to the site
To ensure real time emergency response, four barangays in Cebu City have partnered with a software company to enable faster response to crimes, fires, medical emergencies and other incidents.
Barangays Tisa, Apas, Poblacion Pardo and Sto. Niño have been chosen as pilot areas for Sugbotek Inc.’s mobile emergency response app called Guardian at no cost.
“What we are trying to achieve here is to make incident reporting simple with just one touch by using a smartphone application with data connection. This will bring quick and coordinated response of emergency assets and personnel,” said Sugbotek managing head Cloyd Dedicatoria.
Since Guardian is programmed with an analytics and machine learning system, Dedicatoria said it will be able to identify the nearest center and emergency responders.
It can also identify the severity of the incident and which agencies should be sent to respond.
Guardian can also issue traffic advisories once the system identifies traffic situation, road repairs, incidents and flooding, among others.
The system can also measure water levels in flood-prone areas in the city during heavy down- pours and issue notifications to residents.
“This will help give local government units’ force multipliers more detailed and accurate reports in making legislations on disasters and emergencies that affect their area,” he said.
Guardian is expected to be made available for everyone in January on the Android play store and Apple app store.
For now, Dedicatoria said they are just focusing on activating the system in the pilot areas.
He said around 100 volunteer responders in each of the four barangays have been given access to Guardian to test the app. /
