A coin bank is more than just saving money.

It also symbolizes hard work and dedication - after all, money is the fruit of one’s labor.

That is why money should be handled wisely and with utmost care otherwise, that would entail that all the effort you have exerted would have gone to waste.

It is important to save money because we can never predict what may come our way but we can, however, be prepared for it.

Every year, Childlink launches a Coin Bank Activity to teach students the value of money and to teach financial literacy concepts of earn, save, spend and donate.

Students are instructed to bring any can that will serve as their coin bank. They are free to design it however they please and make it entirely their own.

The Coin Bank activity helps promote independence and taking initiative, which are vital in inevitability of adulthood, which means making decisions by yourself and knowing that your actions today will impart on the workings of your tomorrow.

A coin bank is a stepping stone to a greater purpose.

Oftentimes, the youth find saving money such a tedious task and this shouldn’t be the mindset because saving money will only reap you benefits. The earlier we start saving, the better. So, what are you waiting for? Start saving for the future today.
