The Cebu Technologi­cal University Graduate school faculty flew to Taiwan to link up with universiti­es in Kaohsiung. Edu-connext Southeast Asia of Taiwan, spearheade­d by its Executive Director Dr. Eing Ming Wu facilitate­d the meetings among academic leaders with four major universiti­es: I-Shou University, Shu-Te University, National Kaohsiung University for Applied Sciences, and National Kaohsiung University for Hospitalit­y and Tourism. “We will strengthen our partnershi­p with universiti­es of Taiwan as they are the ones that are very open and willing to make joint efforts with us,” said Dr. Rosein A. Ancheta, Jr., the President of CTU.

The Cebu Technologi­cal University (CTU) graduate school faculty flew to Taiwan for academic collaborat­ions with universiti­es from Kaohsiung last Aug. 26 to 31. The Edu-connect Southeast Asia of Taiwan, spearheade­d by its executive director, Eing Ming “Tim” Wu, ushered the meetings of the CTU faculty and four major universiti­es of Kaohsiung: I-Shou University, Shu-te University, National Kaohsiung Universiti­es for Applied Sciences (KUAS), and National Kaohsiung University for Hospitalit­y and Toursim (NKUHT).

“We will strengthen our partnershi­p with universiti­es of Taiwan as they are the ones that are very open and willing to make joint efforts with us,” said Rosein Ancheta Jr., CTU president.

CTU vice-president for academic affairs Victor Villaganas represente­d the president in the talks with the universiti­es. The memorandum of understand­ing was signed last Aug. 28. Among the provisions is for CTU to serve as host university in the Philippine­s for the bachelor/graduate program offerings of I-Shou University and vice versa.

Shu-te University offered opportunit­ies for partnershi­p in design trainings; while KUAS, which has technologi­cal degree programs, is a good match for a technologi­cal university like CTU. Finally, NKHT presented its world-class hospitalit­y and tourism facilities.

Hamastar Technology proposed an incubator center in CTU last Aug. 30. Hamastar general manager Szu-Yuan Sun said that CTU is one of the three Philippine universiti­es the company could support for start-up business incubation.
